With shorter days upon it was a challenge to get the last race of the Inaugural season in the books. Mother Nature ONCE AGAIN dumped on us the night before the event and track personnel had their work cut out for them. When the track was ready, 33 heats and 24 features were completed with no major delays bringing the 2009 Inaugural Season at the Indian Lookout Country Club to its conclusion.
We surely had many obstacles to overcome with this new facility, but our biggest hurtle this year seemed to be Mother Nature. Though she tested us before almost every event, come race day even she cooperated and we were able to complete every race on the schedule. This would not have been possible without the continued commitment and support of all the members, volunteers, riders and fans. We at Electric City Riders would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of our first season!
With the dirt track season completed, we now move on to the 2010 Ice Race Series. In addition to the NYS Ice Championships at the Lake George Winter Carnival on February 13 & 14, 2010, we are fortunate enough to be welcomed back to Skidmore Lake in Cairo on January 10th & January 24th and once again at Zwicklbauer’s Hofbrau on Warner’s Lake in East Berne on January 17th & 31st. As always, these dates are dependent on weather conditions. Directions and ice conditions will be posted here as the time approaches. Dates and locations have already been added to the Electric City Riders' Calendar.
It has come to our attention that we also have a National Rider in the ATV class. National #113, Doug Crossway, has been racing in the Pro Class for the National Series ATVA Extreme Dirt Track since 2006 and is #9 in the Pro-Am Unlimited Class and #14 in the Pro Class. Congratulations Doug!
The ENYSC District Banquet is scheduled for November 28, 2009 at the Best Western in Cobleskill, NY. District 3 members will be receiving their information shortly. It is also open to the public and if you would like to attend please contact Debbie Kvinlaug @ 518-477-2524 AFTER 3pm for more information.
Again our thanks and hope to see you at the Banquet!
Electric City Riders would like to thank the O'Connors for some great photos they have submitted to our website.
Please check out our all new "Fan Photos" section of our photo gallery Fan Photos.
We are always looking for some great shots of the races, so please use our Contact Page to let us know if you have any photos you would like to submit and have up on our website.
With the end of the season upon us, the riders and fans still continued to turn out for the back-up date of the Memorial Cup race on Sunday, September 20. Even with the late-nite finish at Square Deal Riders on Saturday, riders and staff were ready for competition come Sunday morning. With only one District 3 event remaining on October 4, riders were looking to accumulate last-minute points toward the ENYSC championships.
Please note, the event scheduled for October 4 will be a full race program, not just TT as originally scheduled. -- Events
We would like to thank everyone for your participation and hope to see you then for the final battle for the 2009 ENYSC championship titles.
Please take a look at our Standings page for the results of all the races on the 13th.
Be sure to check out our friends at CD Sports Pix for some great shots of the races
We will have the results for the Septempber 20th races up asap. Please come back and check those out soon.
After an early morning mist, the weather once again provided us with favorable conditions for the running of the 17th Annual Memorial Cup race.
The packed-house watched as expert & amateur riders from New York, New England, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Pennsylvania battled it out throughout the day. After several heat races & LCQÕS, the grids were set for the DASH FOR CASH and Cup Race. In the Dash, 17b Mike Radley grabbed the lead in the 6-lap shootout and never looked back. After a few mishaps in the Cup Race, 12 Justin Velicky took home the top honor. Even with a late start due to wet track conditions, the entire program was complete before dusk.
We would like to thank all our riders fans, and advertisers for once again supporting this annual tradition. We hope to see you this Sunday, September 20, for a regular District 3 event.
We have a few pictuers of the riders in our gallery, please check it out: Gallery.
We will also have the standings up as soon as possible. Please check back with us soon!
After rains hit the Illinois State Fairgrounds last weekend, postponing the Springfield Shorttrack until Monday September 7, #17b Michael Radley from Coeymans Hollow, NY placed 3rd in the GNC Singles Series Heat 2 earning him a spot in the National Main Event. Mike finished 17th in the Main and will have a new national number next year. Mike is the second rider from Electric City Riders this year to attain national status. CONGRATULATIONS MIKE!!!!!
Update for September 13, 2009
The weather is looking fine for one of the most anticipated races of the year . Come see many of the top riders from the northeast battle it out for the Cup trophy. OPEN EXPERTS---the purse is growing, plus DASH FOR CASH. A full amateur program to run as well. Don't miss it!!!
Update for September 20, 2009
There seems to be some confusion regarding our regularly-scheduled District 3 points race on September 20. This date is NOT postponed or cancelled and will run as originally scheduled.
Update for October 4, 2009
This race is listed as TT only. However, a full race program will run on that day: Short Track, TT, and Quads.
Attention all Quads
Due to the visibility issue with scoring, number plates will be available for purchase at the track on race day. We are not able to score you without clear and visible numbers displayed on your machines.-- Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
As we hoped, the combined 2009 Trail Riders Expo and Open Practice/District 3 Points race drew a record number of riders and spectators to the Electric City Riders racetrack at the Indian Lookout Country Club this weekend. Many of the participants in Saturday’s practice returned on Sunday to take part in another record-breaking event of our Inaugural season.
Track crews were hard at work , preparing the race surface after an early-morning rain. The 180+ riders were signed in, practice was complete and the race program was underway. Continual grooming throughout the day paid off and the 24 finals were completed just as the evening rain began to fall.
We would like to thank Frank Potter, Bob Ski and the staff of the 2009 Trail Riders Expo for including us in their program, along with our dedicated members who continue to work hard so you can enjoy this new facility.
We hope to see everyone back here on September 13th for the 17th Annual Memorial Cup Race, traditionally one of the richest races here in the northeast. A full race program will be run that day with every level of competition present, from the 50cc minis to national experts. This event is not possible without the help of sponsors. Many businesses and local entrepreneurs have placed ads in the Memorial Cup souvenir program to help support this event. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please download the following sponsorship form, complete it and return with your donation. Ads begin at $50. The deadline for sponsorships is September 5, 2009.
Don't forget to check out the results of the race on our Standings page.
*Note* - You will need Adobe Reader to view the Sponsorship Form. Please download/installing
Adobe Reader if you are having trouble viewing the document.
We will also be running a DASH FOR CASH on that day, sponsored by Humpy's Bar & Grill.
Once again thank you to all the dirt track fans, riders and families who continue to support our efforts to organize safe, competitive and professional races here at the Indian Lookout Country Club.
Please don't forget to check out the TrailRex Expo!!!
It was a different scene this weekend at the Lebanon Valley Speedway as riders and fans participated in the 2009 NYS 1/2 Mile Dirt Track Championships. It was just a few short weeks ago the Speedway suffered major damage from torrential rains and flooded creeks, causing it to close down for a short period of time. This time Mother Nature provided a different form of punishment--blistering sun with no relief. However, the extreme heat didn’t deter the motorcycle enthusiasts, who enjoyed the day’s events which included vendors, food, entertainment and some of the fastest dirt track racing here in the northeast. Electric City Riders would like to once again thank all the club members and volunteers who withstood sweltering conditions to make this event possible.
With the conclusion of this special event we move back to our home at the Indian Lookout Country Club on Saturday, August 22 for an Open Practice session from 2pm to 7pm running in conjunction with the 2009 Trail Riders Expo and our regularly-scheduled District 3 points race on Sunday, August 23. Please check out TrailRex for a list of all special events beginning on Thursday, August 20 through Sunday August 23.
Please check out our Standings page for race results.
Don't don't forget to check out our friends at cdSportsPix.com. As always they have some amazing shots they are going to post on their site.
As the rain clouds rolled in to the Indian Lookout Country Club on Sunday, so too came the riders and fans. Even though weather predictions were grim, staff was ready and the day’s events got underway. With only one short rain delay during the features, the sun finally broke through as the program was completed.
As always, don't forget to check out the results of the last race on our Standings Page
We at Electric City Riders would like to thank all volunteers, riders and fans for another successful event and we hope to see you all at Lebanon Valley Speedway on August 16 for the NYS 1/2 Mile Championships.
Just a reminder to everyone to take a look at our
Events page.
We have a few big events
coming up in August:
- August 9th @ ILCC
- August 16th 1/2 Mile Championship @ Lebanon Valley Speedway
- August 22nd Open Practice from 2pm to 7pm @ ILCC
- August 23rd @ ILCC
Electric City Riders would like to congratulate their own Adam Carpinello, #58b, for earning his National Number during Round 4 of the AMA Pro Grand National Twins Championship at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD. Adam qualified his XR750 16th overall out of 51 riders, earning him a front row start for his heat race. The program was condensed due to weather, and the heats were set.....16 riders, 3 rows and only top 6 to advance. With past champions Chris Carr and Jake Johnson in his heat, the pressure was on, but Adam took the last spot away from National #16 AJ Eslick. This advanced him to the Main and earned him his National Number. The Main Event was also cut due to rain, with Adam finishing 16th. Many District 3 riders, families and friends helped Adam celebrate the nite's accomplishments.
Despite severe thunderstorms and torrential downpours throughout the week (and even during the night on Saturday), track crews worked feverishly to drain the water and grade the surface to ensure a smooth track on race day. Our efforts were rewarded with beautiful track conditions for the second event of our Inaugural season. We would like to thank the huge crowd that turned out to enjoy the day's events, which included Grand National Champion Kenny "The King of Cool" Coolbeth showing the way around the 3/8 mile oval in the Open Expert and 450 Expert classes.
Due to the continued large turnouts, we are currently working to
reorganize the raceday format by streamlining class structure.
At any venue, 38 heat races and 23 finals take time to complete.
We understand it is a long day for riders and spectators as well
as club volunteers. In order to proceed throughout the program
in a more timely manner, we will be making some schedule changes
that should make the day more enjoyable for everyone involved
here at the Indian Lookout Country Club. We appreciate your
input and thank you for your suggestions. Please check back for
future updates on the situation.
Hope to see you on August 9th! - Our Events
We also would like to let everyone know that the photographers at cdSportsPix took some amazong photos at the event. Check out a few sample shots in our gallery and take a look at all the shots at cdSportsPix
NOTE: Please check back soon for standings
Please be sure to take a look at our Events page.
ATTENTION, to all minors wanting to race, please remember
to have the notarized permission slip filled out and submitted.
Please download the Form.
For future reference, the form is also located at the bottom
of our Events page.
With the first race in the books, we look forward to the next event of our Inaugural Season at the ILCC on July 12. Crews have been busy all month long (with a short break during the Rendezvous event) working the track surface, including wider turns and bigger jumps on the tt course and continual grading and rock-picking on the flattrack. During the past week, Steve Longo has completed construction of the new tower. THANK YOU STEVE!!!
Please Note: As with any new venue, there are always areas to beimproved upon. In order to avoid excess congestion in the pit area, we will have someone directing pit parking and spectator parking. Only race vehicles will be allowed to park in the pits. Spectators must park in the designated area, but will be allowed to enter the pits with a bracelet.
We anticipate everyone's cooperation in our efforts to provide a safe and enjoyable program for riders and spectators alike.
RIDERS - YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR CREW/PIT
All AMA rules apply
The 2009 Flattrack Championship will be August 16th, 2009 @ Lebanon Valley Speedway
*** Please NOTE: Pit Gate/Registration opens at 8:00am
As the large spectator crowd continued to fill the bleachers and picnic area of the new facility for the season opener, the dirt began to fly as the 140+ riders tested their way around the oval and tt courses. With the cooperation of staff and riders alike, the extended program (30 heat races) ran smoothly. Unfortunately, with 3 finals left in the show, the water truck experienced some mechanical problems. Every effort was made to fix it, but in the end we were forced to call it a day, with rider safety in mind.
We at Electric City Riders have received overwhelming support and encouragement and have made a commitment to continue to improve our new home at the ILCC for the enjoyment of riders and spectators alike. We thank you for attending our Inaugural race and invite you back again on July 12 for some of the fastest, safest and most competitive dirttrak racing here in the northeast. The 67-year tradition continues!
We would also like to thank the photographers at cdSportsPix for some great photos!
Thanks to the continued help of many volunteers this weekend, the new facility should be ready for the grand opener on June 7 . We will be completing the final details over the course of this week, and hope to see you there on Sunday!

TT track is cut in, fence posts are in place, grass seed is planted, bleachers are being assembled, and most importantly the flattrack is being fine-tuned. We are making every effort to have things in place for the season opener on June 7. Check back for continued updates...........
Progress continues and with Mother Nature's continued cooperation, the new track will be race-ready for the June 7th Season Opener at the Indian Lookout Country Club.
